@Edwin

I bet you anything that Super Mario Bros 3 will come out next year, as 2008 will be the 20th anniversary of that game.

i'm looking forward to shining in the darkness (genesis) and neutopia (tg-16.) i'm sure it won't happen, but i'd love to see an english version of mahjjong released as well.

what would really knock my socks off is if they would release Y's Book 1+2 for TG-16, the CD version. there's really no reason why they shouldn't release all of the CD games for TG-16 on the VC, such as Addams Family. The only thing that the Cd's were really used for was recorded music, and occasioanlly some anime styled cut-scenes. As has been pointed out before, all they'd have to do is convert the music to a compressed format and then tweak the code to use it. then the downloads would be tiny.

my other wish would be to see the mega drive version of New Zealand Story released.

I hope Nintendo do decide to release the lost levels over here. I am pretty sure the whole game was in english so they shouldn't have to do to much work to get it ready.

Actually, although Super Mario Bros. 2 (as in The Lost Levels) was never released on the NES at the time in America, SMB 2 was bundled together with 1 and 3 in an enhanced port for the SNES called Super Mario All-Stars, with revamped 16-bit graphics. There was also a later alternative version, released in December 1994 that brought Super Mario World to the collection plate, which could be had along with a purchase of a SNES. This compilation also included the Westernized version of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic with Mario characters that was released as Super Mario Bros. 2 here.

If Nintendo ever gets around to releasing imports on the Virtual Console, which even Reggie has hinted toward in the past, then there's a possibility they may release the game separately here in order to score some extra profit on the side. Otherwise, I'd expect playing Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels through the VC launch of Super Mario All-Stars.

I'm going to Japan in a few weeks and buying a Wii there. Are they easy to find in Japan? Super Mario Bros. 2 sounds exciting -- I wonder if they'll bring that to the US since it was never released here, as far as I know. (We had that vegetable throwing version.)

The thing I look forward to the most is all of those awesome NEO GEO fighting games, like Samurai Shodown, KOF, etc.
