Gundam FPS in development for the Wii

4cr pointed us to three videos of Mobile Suit Gundam: MS Battle Line 0079 for the Wii. It’s being developed by Namco Bandai and surprisingly they choose to design it as a first person shooter. There aren’t many FPS games developed in Japan, Coded Arms comes to mind, but the less that’s mentioned about that the better. In Namco Bandai’s game you use the Wii remote to aim and you press the B button to shoot. Maybe Gundam’s FPS outing could break ground for the genre in Japan, since Gundam games sell big and the controls are easier to pick up than WASD + a mouse.

Looks great, feel like you’re controlling from inside the MS’s cockpit. I’m interested in this game since most Gundam games aren’t that great to be honest, even if I’m a fan of the series (the org., Z, and ZZ, not lame sequels like Wing or SEED)

the videos remind me a lot of an old PC game called shogo: mobile armor division… it was great during its day.
