House of the Dead 4, the pseudo ride

One of the best reasons to stop by Gameworks is to try out House of the Dead 4. The updated shoot ‘em up gives players machine guns, removes the annoying civilians to save and has more zombies on screen than House of the Dead 1+2. Some Gameworks like the one in Tempe, AZ have a deal on Thursday nights where you can get unlimited play for $10. It’s a fair deal since you can beat the game without going broke, but in Europe Sega has a better House of the Dead 4 experience. House of the Dead 4 Special puts players into a motion based seat with two 100” XGA projector screens to immerse them in the zombie invasion. When zombies attack players the seat vibrates and bursts of air blow onto their faces. It’s sort of like a motion ride, except you are playing through the game. While arcades are dwindling in North America and most of the world, creative ideas like House of the Dead 4 Special give gamers a reason to swing by an arcade. While we’re waiting for Sega to bring these cabinets to Gameworks in North America you can see specs of the machine past the break.

Thx for the intell Spencer,
Super nice setting. Would you happen to know whereabouts in Europe do they have it by any chance? :)

Spencer Says:

Not really sure where in Europe they have the machines, but Sega Amusements Europe in the UK is handling the distribution, so they’re somewhere. Actually I’ve been told that one place in the USA does have House of the Dead 4 Special too, Schaumburg IL.

Thx, but since i’m actually in the UK I’ll look into that. There are a few massive SEGA arcade rooms i know of, 2 in Paris and 1 in London, it has to be in at least one of those, at least.
I’ve tried the game last month and damn… it’s awesome! Can’t wait they bring such lightgun games to the Wii… the remote just asks for it. But this “Special” kinda setting does make the Arcade experience worth it in the meantime.
Peace.

when does it come to america?
