Soul Calibur Legends in development

Veilknight dropped us an e-mail (thanks!) about Namco Bandai “crazy ass adventure game” for the Nintendo Wii that stars characters from Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur Legends brings together some of the cast of the fighting game into a third person action adventure game. The concept art above shows Siegfried holding the Soul Edge fighting a huge dragon, so at the very least he is in the game. Namco Bandai has not announced a release date for the project or details about the control scheme yet. The transition from fighting to action hasn’t worked out for franchises like Mortal Kombat, but Namco did a decent job making Tekken Force. Either way Soul Calibur Legends is a welcome surprise to the Wii’s line up.

Wengus pretty much summed up my reactions when I first heard about Soul Calibur Legends. I’m really excited about this game, ever since details were released for the Wii remote after its unveiling, a title properly making use of the unique control mechanism as a sword only seemed natural to me, so hopefully this spin-off pulls it off perfectly. I expect nothing but the best from one of the top-tier 3D fighters out there.

Considering the rich story and atmosphere that surrounds the SC series, I think it’s the perfect fit for an adventure game. Here’s hoping Namco Bandai’s efforts are a success.
