Ubisoft officially announced Prince of Persia Classic, an Xbox Live Arcade remake of the original Prince of Persia. Sort of like Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, Prince of Persia Classic is a 2D game remade with 3D graphics, although it’s allegedly less blocky The Prince has a new look too, his outfit from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Compared to the original PC game (see a speedrun video of the original past the break) Prince of Persia Classic looks fantastic and as long as Ubisoft doesn’t tone down the difficulty for gamers spoiled from the forgiving Sands of Time this could be another must have game.
man, the original game was SO hard, i don’t think i ever beat it. but it was made worse by the pretty inaccurate controls hopefully this one will be better but keep the difficulty.

Ubisoft tops every expectation, not to mention any other remakes on XBLA, with Prince of Persia Classic. The new 3D visuals reminiscent of Sands of Time surprisingly fits well with the look and feel of the original POP. It’s hardly mistakable, that’s exactly how I would imagine this classic platformer looking given a next-gen coat of painting.
What would be a nice little extra is if Ubisoft threw in the Apple II version of Prince of Persia, if only for historical purposes and as a reference to further compare both games. However, if this 3D remake remains as faithful as possible to the original, including in the difficulty, then the exclusion of the original can be forgiven.
