Playstation 3 heading to Korea with prepaid network cards

Besides introducing the 80 GB Playstation 3 in South Korea, Sony is rolling out prepaid Sony Network Cards. The PSN Network cards are sold in denominations of: 3,000 ($3.22), 5,000 ($5.37), 10,000 ($10.74), 30,000 ($32.22) and 50,000 ($53.72) won. These aren’t used for online play, instead they are used to purchase downloadable games like Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and perhaps multimedia content in the near future. After Sony launched the PSP they quickly teamed up with NESPOT to sell downloadable e-books, videos and music on demand. While Sony hasn’t announced anything it seems likely they are planning the same strategy for the Playstation 3. After all you have to fill up that 80GB hard drive with something besides movie trailers.
