Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga in development

After selling seven million copies of Lego: Star Wars games LucasArts and Travelers Tales are creating Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, just in time for the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga isn’t all new, it brings mashes together the first two games and throws in online play for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the Nintendo DS release is built from the ground up with a new control scheme. There is also a Nintendo Wii version in development, but there aren’t any concrete details about how it will add in motion control. If there is a mini game where you use the Wii remote as a lightsaber I’m sold on the Wii release, if not I’ll probably get the Xbox 360 or PS3 version since online play is a great addition.

I just knew Lucasarts couldn’t resist making another Lego Star Wars game. Such a devious ploy, releasing each reenactment of the prequel trilogy first while following it up with the original trilogy secondly, and now combining the two films together into one game simply to cash in on their fanbase.

Putting their devilish marketing scheme aside, I’m really looking forward to this. Online co-op on the 360/PS3 should make for a blast, and is the best logical step for the series.

The Wii version sounds interesting in its own right. Just thinking of the possibility of using the Wiimote as a lightsaber has me excited, it’s only what I’ve been desiring ever since Nintendo’s unveiling of the motion sensor.
