Out of nowhere here comes James Pond: Codename Robocod

Out of nowhere here comes James Pond: Codename RobocodBefore Electronic Arts was synonymous with Madden they used to publish games platforming games starring an aquatic version of James Bond. The James Pond series quickly faded into existence after the 16-bit era, but according to the ESRB Codemasters is digging it out of its grave. James Pond: Codename Robocod, the second game in the series, was enhanced and re-released in Europe in 2005. It looks like Codemasters picked up this remake and are planning to bring it to North America. The question is will anyone care about it?

Codemasters would have much better luck with the re-release if the first James Pond game appeared on the virtual console or other downloadable service to get people to at least recognize the washed up hero. But even then I can’t imagine anyone paying $30 or even $20 for this.

I can’t explain why, but I really enjoyed the 1st one on the genesis…. you’re right though, they’d be better of bringing that to the VC for 5-6 bucks

I remember I dreamt about this game when it was released back in the days but when I finally got it, it was not that good.

So I won’t be fooled a second time.

Obscure Genesis port for the win.

I loved this series when I was a kid.

OMG played that piece of **** on the amiga.
It’s should be on the list of games that should be wiped from the history of videogames.
It came at a time when western game devellopers were desperately trying to emulate the succesful (and great) japanese platformers with derivative half assed games (it gave us other *gems* such az “ZOOL”).
I suppose that now that we are in an era of virtual consoling and cutting on dev costs, we’ll see a lot of these *gems* come back to the surface…
