More anime is coming to Xbox Live starting on June 12th when FUNimation, Geneon and ADV Films begin selling their shows on the Xbox 360. Anime that will air on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace are:
FUNimation
Samurai 7
Trinity Blood
Gunslinger Girl
Basilisk
Geneon Entertainment
Gun Sword
Last Exile
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
Lupin the 3rd
Akira (the movie in HD)
Microsoft has not announced a price per episode, but typically TV show episodes are sold for 160 Microsoft Points ($2). Not a bad deal if you want to pick up select episodes of Lupin or grab a short 13 episode series like Gankutsuou. Other networks that debut on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace this month are Country Music Television with Prankville starting tomorrow and Logo on June 11th.
Later this month Dreamgirls, Letters from Iwo Jima, Shooter, Black Snake Moan and Pan’s Labyrinth (see this!) will also appear on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace for rent.
This makes me want to invest in a 360…I’ve been meaning to watch Gun Sword, Trinity Blood, and maybe Basilisk! And Akira in HD…hmmm, tempting!
My regular 20Gb (only 13Gb usuable out of the box) is alrdy filled up w/ all the demos and trailers, so downloading full length HD movies is out of the question unless I get the 120Gb, *sigh* The 360 peripherals are really expensive if you think about it compared to PS3 which has built-in wireless and 60Gb HDD to play w/.
Is there the option to get the episodes in japanese language with english subtitles?
Or are only the english dubs available?
BatAttack, thats a really good question. Let me see if I can dig up information about that.

It’s awesome to see Geneon releasing anime on XBL market place. Akira in HD… should be interesting. Too bad we couldn’t get Last Exile in HD. I love that series. This seriously has be considering getting the 120 gig HD now. Just so I can keep anime downloaded.
I’ve got a Netflix copy of Pan’s Labyrinth. My fiance and I never got the chance to see it in theatres. Hopefully the XBL version will be in HD. The movie is being releases on HD DVD in France this summer, so I hope to see a US HD DVD release in the fall. I’m kind of holding off watching the movie until in can see it in an HD DVD format.
