The ESRB has listings for two unannounced virtual console titles, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and F-Zero X. Both of these games have been on Japan’s virtual console and the later was released last month. While this is far from unexpected, I’m glad Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is coming out sooner rather than later. Sonic’s second game is one of the gems on the Genesis and a timeless classic. Also interesting to note is Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is also rated for the Xbox 360, which means it is probably going to come to Xbox Live Arcade at some point. Sonic 2 with achievements… maybe I’ll just wait for that.
I can’t wait for the Genesis games to hit XBOX Live. Not because I’ll buy them (I don’t have a 360) but to see the price difference between the Virtual Console and XBOX Live Arcade. Now we’ll see how much Nintendo is pocketing out of this hehe :P

According to the ESRB, Streets of Rage 2 is also coming to XBLA. Considering their track record of announcing games through listing a rating for it on their website, this is more than likely true. They have really become a great source for unveiling games heading to the US before the official confirmation from publishers.
That reason alone is why I’ve held off from downloading SOR 2 on the VC, not only should a potential XBLA port of Streets of Rage 2 contain online co-op, but adding achievements to the mix is enough for Microsoft to get my money.
I’m really hoping these future Xbox Live Arcade titles of Sega’s classics sell well, so we can hopefully see a onslaught of their actual arcade titles popping up on XBLA as frequently as they readily prepare Genesis games on the Virtual Console.
