Ikki Tousen: Shining Dragon gives a new meaning to “battle damage”

By Spencer . June 8, 2007 . 3:32pm

Insert Credit who is also glancing over Marvelous home page from time to time spotted a game based off of Ikki Tousen, a martial arts manga where schools are at war with each other. The obvious genre choice for a game is fighting and Marvelous came up with a gimmick to push the title. During fights characters in Ikki Tousen: Shining Dragon have parts of their clothes ripped off when they are hit. It’s not exactly Strip Fighter II: Turbo because scrapped bits of cloth cover all of the naughty bits. As you can probably guess the cast is entirely female and there are no plans for a North American release. Will half naked 3D characters sell a fighting game? Marvelous and Tecmo seem to think so!

If you’re one of the handful of people who read the manga or curious check out the trailer.

Anime based fighting games don't make it in NA unless the show has been Americanized for kids to be played on Saturday morning.

Being a Romance of the Three Kingdoms fan, I actually enjoyed this series. Too bad we'll never see this game in North America. It's also too bad they're only using the female characters. I can understand that this is a fan-service game, but characters like Totaku and Ouin are what made the season of the anime so cool. =p

Well now i really wish my ps2 was capable of running imports.

Whoa, what does this have to do with ROTK? Am I missing something?

Somehow, this game doesn’t seem like a steller idea.

This anime is sort of like Tenjou Tenge except all of the characters’ names are based on those in Romance of the 3 Kingdoms, like Sousou (Cao Cao), Chouhi (Zhang Fei), etc, pretty much a blatant fanservice show disgracing 3 Kingdoms yet again.. now you have another fantasy show called Koutetsu Sangokushi too, at least it’s better than Ikki Tousen in theory w/o the naked chicks.
