Two original Playstation 3 downloadable games coming out this month

The Playstation Store is in the same quagmire that Xbox Live Arcade was in last year. Instead of releasing a steady stream of original games like fl0w the Playstation Store is filled with slipshod ports of Midway arcade games. Rampart was good and Gauntlet 2 was decent, but how many people really want to buy Joust… again. Things are looking up for downloadable content this month with Super Stardust HD and Piyotama.

Super Stardust HD is a remake of an Amiga asteroids clone. The premise is simple you pilot a ship around a planet and shoot everything using the two analog sticks. Super Stardust HD might be a worthy contender to Geometry Wars and it is scheduled to come out at the end of June, June 29 for Japan. Piyotama is a puzzle game where you rearrange and match colored eggs to make them hatch. It is scheduled to come out on June 19 and both games are being sold for 800 yen ($6.50).
