Simple economics. People forget that the BABY BOOMERS HOLD THE CASH AND THE POPULATION my friends

Nintendo is pure genius. As baby boomers get older, they defy "senior citizen" sterotypical activities as knitting, bird watching etc. to play with their grandchildren.

Surprise! ALot of kids dig the Nintendo DS. So being the cool Baby boomer that you are, youre hip you can do this video game thing. And guess who they choose. SIMPLE controls, no violent gaming, and something all 10 years are nagging their parents. A WII.

Nintendo is PURE GENIUS.

Nintendo said it best, none-gamers are afraid of a multi button game pad, they think they'll get a headache by holding it, so no, a $250 PS3 wouldn't have appealed to the none-gamer just like the $100 PS2 doesn't appeal to them right now.

Mind you, a $600 Wii wouldn't have sold that much.

yr reversal of the situation is only half done. the question is not 'would grannies buy the Wii at the PS3 price point?' - of course that answer is 'no'.

the question should be: 'would grannies buy the PS3 in Wii-like numbers if it was at the Wii price point?' and the answer to *that* question, i contend, is *also* 'no'. and understanding why it is a 'no' tells us a great deal about *why* the Wii has been such a stand-out success.
