Watch: Touch screen play in the Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass

Since it’s coming out in just ten days, gameplay videos of the Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass have been rolling out on the internet. Unlike the other Legend of Zelda games, The Phantom Hourglass is controlled entirely with the stylus. You point to where you want Link to run and swipe the stylus to swing your sword. The control scheme sounds unorthodox, but rest assured Zelda faithful the videos show that Zelda’s first DS game sticks to the formula.

 

The Phantom Hourglass makes more ground in the Zelda linage as a sequel to the you-should-love-it-even-though-it-is-cel-shaded Gamecube Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. After saving the world from Gannondorf Link joins Tetra as a sea pirate in search of a new home. During their travels Tetra explores an abandoned ship covered in fog and finds herself in a world of trouble. Link being the all-purpose hero tries to save her, but he drifts into the ocean and to an empty island with fairies.
