Halo 3’s viral marketing campaign?

Xbox Flash sent out a mass e-mail with this message linking back to the official Halo 3 site.

“Look for the signs, the keepers of the flame. They will lead you to war, and perhaps, to victory.” Microsoft is known for making alternate reality games and this could be a clue in an ilovebees-like promotion for Halo 3. Anyone have ideas on what the potential clue might be pointing to?

Oh dear god made it end. I am prepared to admit that the Halo games are cool, yea, perhaps awesome. But this is -pure marketing-. Further, it’ preaching to the converted, it’s Microsoft getting fans riled up purely for hype-related purposes.

It’s depressing that it’s so transparent, yet works so well.

Angelous Says:

John, yes it is pure hype. And it preaching to the converted. But the converted one who spread the news by word of mouth. Microsoft is doing everything it can to use Halo 3 to force the entire Xbox division to be profitable by the end of the 2007 fiscal year.

By the way, I can’t wait to play the single player campaign.
