Rumor Control: Wii Freeloader not coming out this month

By Spencer . June 18, 2007 . 11:54am

freeloaderwii.jpgQJ.net saw a listing for a Nintendo Wii freeloader on Italian retail site YouToo and sparked hope for Wii owners planning to import games. However, this is not the “Wii Freeloader” they think it is, meaning it does not work with Wii games. Let’s look at the packaging of the box. It says…

Freeloader on the Wii:

Both Action Replay for Gamecube and Freeloader work on a Wii in Gamecube mode…

Oh… so it’s Wii compatible and works with Gamecube games, which means it’s just a repackaged version of the Freeloader already out on the market. Not convincing enough? There is also a huge stamp that says “Works WITH Wii” on the package, not for Nintendo Wii games. Sorry everyone, there is still no easy solution for region switching yet, but thanks for sending tip over to us!

See pictures of the packaging past the break.

Aoshi00 Says:

These false advertising always get our hopes up, don’t they.. *sigh* just give us a genuine Wii freeloader alrdy, and my first game would be “Hajime no Ippo Revolution” the boxing game.

Aoshi000 is right. This is taking too long for it to come out. I already imported a game in hopes that the freeloader problem wouldn’t take too long to solve and now I’m falling asleep waiting for this thing. I’m thinking about just buying a Japanese Wii when I go to Japan next summer, but I hope it doesn’t come to that.
