Aksys officially announces Guilty Gear XX Accent Core

By Spencer . June 22, 2007 . 12:24pm

It’s been rumored that Aksys picked up the rights to Guilty Gear XX Accent Core via Gamefly and now it’s official. Aksys plans to bring out Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for the Playstation 2 and the Wii sometime this year. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core has over 20 characters including, A.B.A and Order-Sol. You might remember that the PS2 release is plagued with bugs. As of now it is unknown if Aksys plans on adjusting the PS2 release and if the same glitches appear in the Nintendo Wii release.

Update (thanks matty!): Aksys IS going to fix the glitches in the Playstation 2 version!

We just wanted to let everyone know that all the bugs found in the Japanese version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core will be fixed for the American version. So hopefully everyone's worries will be put to rest.

So go out and reserve it!

Next week at Anime Expo, Aksys is going to give attendees a first look at the game and they are hosting a Guilty Gear tournament with some unannounced prizes. Also if you’ve got a copy of Hoshigami Remix, make sure you bring it to get some exclusive in game items.

You can see some more screenshots of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core past the break.

Aksys says at their main website that will fix the glitches.

Cool! This is really a good deal for fighting fans. I can finally as A.B.A. without the sucky controls

It’s a relief to hear that Aksys is indeed taking the time to properly perform bug fixes on the Western release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. I still can’t help but wonder if this includes Japan as well at some point for a future rerelease of the game. After all, I know I’d be pretty steamed if I were living in Japan, purchased XX Accent Core only to find out that its bug-riddled with no future revision in sight.

Not that it really matters at this point in time, I’m waiting for the American PS2 release. Now if only Aksys could give a concrete release date. :P

“Is Japan getting a re-release with the bugs fixed?”

There’s no way of telling for sure, since this announcement from Aksys only makes mention of the American release getting bug fixes. They have nothing to do with the import version anyway, that’s out of their hands. Arc System Works published Guilty Gear XX Accent Core in Japan, and as of now, there hasn’t been any press releases about a future revision in the future other than a open apology for those who bought the game.

Although there’s still the Wii port coming out in Japan on July 26, 2007, if they know what’s good for them, a rerelease of the PS2 version wouldn’t hurt either. They already stated that the future Wii release will have the bug fixes corrected but leaving the original port unaltered would only help to stir up bad blood between Arc System Works and the consumers.

I know I’d be more reluctant to buy one of their products if I knew there was a chance it would be bud-riddled with no proper revision in sight.
