Microsoft announced that Blue Dragon will be released in North America on August 28 for $59.99. Europe, who was supposed to wait until September for Blue Dragon, got their release date bumped up to August 24. In less than a year Blue Dragon will be out around the world, in many languages too.
For the US release you have English, French and Japanese language tracks plus new box art (on the left).
they changed the character’s proportions for the cover. it’s very slight, but as someone who spent about 100 hours with the game, it’s noticeable. is this the modern approach to compromise on the old “the japanese design is to youthful/cutesy” situation? this is stupid. in the old days, it wasn’t so clear that your avatar in dragon quest was supposed to look like a toriyama illustration, but in this game it’s clear as day. why do something like this? why not just have a toriyama illustration on the front? everyone seems to like dragon ball these days anyway (god, i hate that show).
I was looking forward to the US release even though I’ve play the Jpn game.. I can’t be too sure what the new art looks like since it’s a little small, but doesn’t it look like those old Megaman covers where they buffed up the main characters? Shu looks like he’s 20 yrs old here or something. It’s pretty weird too considering Toriyama’s art is the trademark of the game, just like Chrono Trigger…
I think they just wanted to go with 3D to make it more cooler and the likes.
