Clash of the beam sabers, Dynasty Warriors:Gundam

We’ve been following Dynasty Warriors:Gundam since it was released in Japan as Gundam Musou so I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty. But to get everyone up to speed Namco Bandai who holds the Gundam license and Koei who publishes the endless wave of “Warriors” games collaborated to make a mash up of Gundam and Shin Sangoku Musou (aka Dynasty Warriors). The result is a brawling game where you get to pilot a Gundam and swing a beam saber at hundreds of Gundam on screen. I was told over 150 robots can be on the screen simultaneously, but don’t expect all of them to pounce on you at once. That would make the game impossible, but the AI has been beefed up a tad, more if you opt to play the game in difficult mode. Through an original storyline Dynasty Warriors:Gundam brings together different series starting with the very first, Mobile Suit Gundam, to Zeta Gundam and fan favorite Gundam Wing.

Specifically for North America, Namco Bandai is going to release Dynasty Warriors:Gundam on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. There isn’t going to be any special downloadable content for the 360 version, actually there is no downloadable content. There aren’t even any significant differences, except the standard 1000 achievement points required in retail Xbox 360 games. You can unlock achievements by completing story modes like Amuro Ray’s and shooting down a set number of enemies. During the conference call, Nobuaki Taguchi (localization producer) explained that earning achievements won’t be a major challenge and you will unlock many of them by playing through the game normally. It was a “no brainer” to release Dynasty Warriors:Gundam on the Xbox 360 due to the popularity of the console. However, it is unknown if there are any plans to bring the Xbox 360 version to Japan or anywhere else in the future.

Besides a new Xbox 360 release, Namco Bandai made the decision to include an English voiceover track and the original Japanese voices with subtitles. I’m sure fans are going to be happy about this and I hope Namco Bandai continues to do this with their other games.

For Xbox 360 owners Namco Bandai is looking into the possibility of bringing a demo out at a later date, but there are no set plans to announce at this time.
