Those who've become avid Nippon Ichi fans, due primarily to their popular SRPG series Disgaea, and wondered whether or not Nippon Ichi would jump on the PS3 train can now take a breather as Nippon Ichi by way of NIKKEI NET has issued a press release regarding the third entry in their beloved Disgaea franchise for the Playstation 3.

Aside from the interesting year shown on the image above as well as the year in the press release, it seems as if Disgaea 3 will be retaining its classic lush sprite feel. Since the game was just announced, there's absolutely no information regarding its plot, characters, gameplay, or anything of that nature. Once things are unveiled, though, you can be sure we'll feed it to you.

This is absolutely wonderful news don’t get me wrong. (Huge Disgaea fanboy) I’m just really really sad that it’s due out on PS3. =( I see absolutely no reason that Disgaea will ever need PS3. The first two games are less than a gig each. That said, they’ve still got the rest of a PS2 DVD to fill up before even thinking about moving onto a new console. =(

Anyone else went “IT’S A PIC FROM THE FUTURE!” when they saw the year?

This news could be sort of bad for US Disgaea fans. SCEA has been notorious in the past for not approving games that they feel don’t accurately represent the power of their hardware. But oh well, I guess we’ll see.

No kidding. Like I said before Disgaea, seems like the sort of game that could run on the PSOne hardware. PS2 was OK, but PS3, NA consumers (that aren’t fans) will see this as a joke. If this company had half a brain, they would stick with handhelds.

Hello Hello Says:

This should have been on the PS2.

jeffx Says:

if scea blocks this from coming to America, they are repeatedly shooting themselves in every possible body part.

Not to many body parts left to shoot honestly.

id say people are exaggerating with the ps1 handling the graphics, the backgrounds..
its really great news, doesnt concern me which system it is on,,if the ps3 can contribute to more memory

Project119 Says:

I am completely excited, and maybe the PS3 will allow for more diverse ai combos and what not

badfish Says:

Sony is notorious for not letting 2 D games on their system. I agree, they should have put this on the ps2.

A question for you guys (and girls):

Are you having an kind of interview with Nippon Ichi later this year (I think I remember reading something like that, methinks) and if so could you find out whatever happened to Makai Wars?

Chris Says:

Going on PS3 is crap. Why would Nippon Ichi want to limit their game to people who can afford to spend $600 on a system? At some point I may have to buy a PS3 on ebay, play all the games I want to on it, then flip it back on ebay.

Well I hope it at least comes to PS2. I would hate to see this game stay in Japan.

benjamin Says:

I think N1 is fiercely loyal toward Sony, ergo Disgaea 3 appearing on the PS3.

Besides, it’s Disgaea, I’ll play it on any console they port to/publish on!
