Checking out the DS version of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Trading Card Game

Full disclosure: I’m not familiar with the Fullmetal Alchemist: Trading Card Game at all. So I spent my brief play session with the DS version toying with the cards on the touchscreen. I was playing as Edward Elric and the opponent was Majhal. In my hand I had an Alphonse card, an Eyepatch and Winry. When you tap on a card a description of what it does pops up on the top screen. Hmm… the eyepatch is some sort of item and Alphonse gets a +2 to all attributes. Apparently I didn’t have enough mana to use the Alphonse card, so I drew a card by clicking on an icon on the touch screen. One neat feature is you can switch the top screen to show card art when you press the L button, a little detail to keep the DS game consistent with the actual trading cards. Neat for fans maybe?

did this got released or do you guys have a review copy?
(oh and by the way the eyepatch use is to increase the wits stat of a character, your mana is also dictated by your leader card in your case the edward elric card, see the number on the top left? that’s your mana)

  • Not a review copy, quick impressions from a demo at Comic Con. The game keeps getting pushed back so the release date is hazy. And thanks for the explanation about the game, I’m lost when it comes to the rules.
