"Again, I’ll hold the torch for Sonic Adventure 1 and even 2. They’re both excellent games. They’re about as good as Sonic in 3D will probably ever be. The fact is that 2D games change when they become 3D for a number of reasons, but because it’s not the same does not mean it isn’t still and excellent game or isn’t true to the original material. Mario 64 is really not like the Mario games that came before it in almost the exact same ways as Sonic Adventure is not really all that much like the previous sonic games - but Mario 64 is heralded as one of the best video games ever. It was one of the first and best games to make that transition and Sonic Adventure follows a very similar 2D to 3D conversion process. You may not enjoy Sonic in 3D, but that’s probably not the game’s fault. 2D Sonic is great. 3D Sonic is different but also great. You probably don’t like all kinds of games that have a lot of wonderful qualities because they don’t focus on design patterns that you like, but those patterns are not flawed, per se, because you don’t care for them."

Completly agree, the Sonic Adventure games were great. Sonic rocks in 3d, and hopefully we'll see him get out this 3d slump he's in...soon.

The flaming is really unnecessary. You can make a case for your point either way without it. I’ll comment none the less…

Tell that to the other guy, he comes in out of no where and flames me. I don't start fights, but I do like to finish them.

I'm going to have to disagree. Mario 64 gave me the same feeling of gameplay as standard Mario game and just like Mario 3, you had new ways of killing enemies. The main problem with 3D Sonic games is the speed. The only safe time you can run very fast is when Sonic was meant to (when it's planned), any other time, you risk outrunning the camera and getting killed by an enemy or falling down a cliff.

The second problem is Sonic's main attack, the homing attack. It makes all other attacks, (spin, spindash, jumping) obsolete and you risk dying when using them. Sonic on Wii is pretty much the proof that the other attacks don't work well since they removed them. This would be like removing Mario Jumping attack, it doesn't make sense.

Speaking of Sonic on Wii, they almost had it. If they would have left Sonic's other attack and l changed the controls, it could have worked. The auto running is lame, I don't see why they had to to this. Here's the controls that could have worked for me:

-They could have simply made you hold button 2 to go forward like in a racing game
-They could allow you to backtrack more easily by reversing the camera with A button
-Allow you to jump normally with button 1
-Allow you to spin dash by holding one of the D-pad direction, shaking the controller to build speed and releasing the D-pad.

Add all of this to the left and right Wiimote movement and the Wiimote shacking for homing attack and that would have worked.

I was being sarcastic, but I think you’ve realized that.

I don’t need to argue with you right now, so I’m going to say anything else. So please, go ahead importer, get some stupid last remark in…like you usually do. :(

“Sonic Rivals to look forward to on both handhelds”

I just saw the first trailer for Rivals 2, and I have to say I wasn’t too impresed. It looks just like the first game, except the framerate is choppy. I was hoping for a more smoother framerate than the first game, but I’m assuming the trailer footage is from an early build. I enjoyed the first game, but I hated how sometimes it was near impossible to avoid obstacles, because you would only see them when it was too late. But I think a better camera could fix that.

You shouldn't be taking expired medication.

Anyway, for Sonic Rival, they almost got the formula right. They got the speed back, but they should have simplified it a bit more, Sonic was never meant to be a complicated game, all you were suppose to need is good reflexes and skill.

As you’ve proven in the past, you have no idea what you’re talking about when it comes to Sonic games. But I have to say that games of late do suck real bad. Here’s hoping for GOOD 3d Sonic games in the future.

Not sure what you're talking about mate, but yes, it's been done before. Some games did keep a 2D platform aspect while being a 3D game: Nights into Dreams, Mischief Makers, Viewtiful Joe, Viewtiful Joe 2, Yoshi Story and Kirby 64 just to name a few. These games did have 3D (or 3D cell shaded) aspect but retained a 2D platform aspect and I fail to see why Sonic Team won't give that a shot.
