ASH gets a release date…in Japan

ash_scan.jpgIf you've been keeping a steady eye on Mistwalker's ASH (Archaic Sealed Heat), then you'll be glad to know that this scan on the left (click to enlarge) from Jeux-France via Shonen Jump magazine reveals the release date for ASH, October 4th, 2007, as well as some new information regarding the same. One of the most highlighted features of ASH, as indicated in one of the screenshots in the scan on the bottom left, is how the game will have a Bahamut Lagoon feel to it combat wise. If you've never heard of Bahamut Lagoon, Bahamut Lagoon's battle system was a mixture of SRPG and turn-based elements; meaning battles were dictated in a typical SRPG structure (move unit next to enemy or somewhere on the field) yet battles were conducted in a typical turn-based fashion with a set amount of characters (4 in Bahamut Lagoon), participating. Looks like ASH will be the spiritual successor to Bahamut Lagoon.

Should we cover ASH?

Yes it seems very intersting please cover it.

  • Ryu Kazama

Yes please. Me and my friend have been interested in this for quite a while but barely anyone actually writes much about it. It looks pretty damn good for a DS game as well.

Definitely cover ASH. I’d like to see how this game develops (considering Mistwalkers small but impressive library thus far).

  • ryne11

    This game looks pimpin’

    Cover it

  • SomeDude

Yeah, cover it. I want you to cast a very critical eye on it in terms of gameplay. People are giving Mistwalker a lot of credit when they haven’t done anything of note. I’m curious to see how this shapes up in terms of gameplay, because in terms of gameplay, Blue Dragon is basically FFI: Redux.

  • Andy

I’m always interested in knowing what Mistwalker is up to, especially for a system I actually own. I’m still a Sakaguchi fan.

  • Hello Hello

Isn’t this supposed to be the first DS game that uses the new 2 gigabit cards? Coverage of this game would be nice!

  • Thores

God yes. I’m not quite as intrigued by this game as I was when it was first announced, but I still want very much to see how it turns out.

  • J.L.Jones

    Why wouldn’t you cover it?

  • BatAttack

Because he only has so much time in his days. :P
‘Covering’ it properly means playing it and reading about it – you can’t cover every game that comes out, so you have to choose.

Is there any news if this will be localised? Or will this be Japanese only?
And if it gets localised, any chance of dual-language audio?

  • Dr. Slump

I’m very interested in this game too.

There’s a good chance of localization for this one. Mistwalker seems interested in covering the international market.
