Manga style cutscenes in Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword

Famitsu has a few new pictures of Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword and this time they aren’t of the stylus-swinging action. Instead of using character portraits and text boxes like most Nintendo DS games, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword looks more like a living graphic novel. It’s a fitting idea since you hold the DS like a book when you play the game. I give it a “yay” for style. What do you think?

This really reminds me of the cinematic scenes from the Ninja Gaiden trilogy on the NES. I can’t help but get the feeling that Dragon Sword is paying tribute to the Ninja Gaiden of year’s past through these cutscenes.

I’m loving the stylish look of the game so far, it perfectly captures the look and atmosphere of the Ninja Gaiden series perfectly. Without a doubt, these cinema scenes are a more interesting way of displaying the storyline than just plain text.

Amen, reminded me of the 8-bit days cutscenes right away, and back then those were awesome. Definitely miss this style over the ultra real Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma.
