Capcom rolling in the dough, net sales way up

gs4.jpgThings are looking up for Capcom this year. Compared with last year their net sales are up 35% and their net income is up nearly 40%. Chalk it up to Gyakuten Saiban 4’s success. Over half a million copies were sold in Japan, which makes it the best selling game in the Ace Attorney series. With such strong support from fans another Gyakuten Saiban game is nearly guaranteed. And hopefully the numbers will convince Capcom to localize Apollo Justice even if Trials and Tribulations isn’t a breakout hit when it comes out in September.

Other reasons for the boost are smooth sales of Resident Evil 4 Wii edition and strong sales of Monster Hunter Portable 2, which is coming to North America this fall.

  • The problem for me with the second and third Ace Attorney games is that they don’t offer enough differences over the first game to make me want to buy. After th final case in PW1, I knew that I couldn’t settle for less. The depth was perfect. That why I’m waiting until Apollo Justice to continue the series, no matter how good people say GS3 is. I have a friend who will buy every one though, so I guess it evens out.

It’s obvious that this blog is Nintendo oriented, but shouldn’t be Monster Hunter portable 2 the MAIN topic of the article instead of Ace Attorney since MHP2 sold way more than 1/2 million copies???
And did Resident Evil on the Wii sell better than Lost Planet on the 360?

  • @MSXFan – The reason why Monster Hunter Portable 2nd wasn’t the focus was of this article is because it was a major part of the last earnings statement. this And many moons ago we mentioned that it sold a million copies.
