Cooking for virtual friends in Cooking Mama 2

cm2.jpgCooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends is coming to North America care of Majesco. The premise of the game is still the same, you use your stylus as an all purpose cooking tool to prepare 80 dishes. This time around nine of Mama’s friends will be judging her with a tasting contest after she makes a meal. Cooking Mama 2 also has a DS download play mode where up to four players can compete. This will probably be similar to what we’ve seen in Cooking Mama: Cook Off where players race to grill steaks and crack eggs.  The other new feature is you can dress up Mama and redesign the kitchen’s look in decoration mode.

So far Cooking Mama 2 has been announced in Europe and now North America. Office Create (the developer) and Taito (the publisher in Japan) haven’t mentioned the sequel. It’s interesting to note because there was a time when Cooking Mama seemed too quirky for the West and now the West is talking about the sequel first.

Glad a sequel is coming out! Looking forward to the judging aspects and new recipes.

I’m surprised that it did so well in EU and NA, but not in Japan. I think both the DS version and the Wii version bombed pretty bad there.
