Doki Doki Majo Shinpan in the eyes of Wired

snkdokidoki.jpgI heard about SNK’s “witch hunting” game, Doki Doki Majo Shinpan, when it was first announced. However, the premise of touching child-like witches with the stylus was way too creepy for me. So even though it looked like the kind of obscure thing Siliconera would feature in a playtest, no one was going to cover it here. Never fear though! Chris Kohler over from Game|Life picked it up and wrote a lengthy piece explaining how the whole thing works. Surprisingly, there is less poking with the stylus and more reading text boxes. Kohler explains:

Finally, after nearly two hours of baloney that wasn't anywhere near what was promised, the actual witch-touching part of the game started up. You tap one of the five icons to interact with her. From left, they're: Touch, Leer, Blow, Wink, and Item. The first four should be self-explanatory. With the fifth, you can use items you found in the course of your investigation to see what her reaction is.

It sounds like I didn’t miss out on anything either! Oh yeah, he also has a piece up about Anata Mo DS de Classic Kiite Mimasen Ka? too, which was the Classical Music entry in the DS Style series that we talked about before.

So this was nothing but a piece of perverted pedo shit after all, figured as much. Ah, those wacky Japanese.

Chris Kohler Says:

No, the point is actually that it’s 5% perverted girl-touching and 95% boring crap. And that’s being really generous with the math.

Better off playing those bishoujo mahjong series right :)?
