The Linux based handheld is not ready to fade into obscurity. The F-200, a new version of the GP2X is set to come out later this year and it will allow you to play games with a touch screen. While there aren’t many commercial games for the GP2X, the homebrew community has been strongly supporting it with emulators and ports of games like Cave Story. It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of touch screen games they come up with and if anyone attempts to make a DS emulator.

I don’t think the screen would work well with a DS Emulator. It’s not widescreen, so you couldn’t turn it.

Still, the best thing about this is that if people were so interested in “homebrew”, they would be buying this, instead of hacking PSPs. (Though then again, most popular “homebrew” is emulators to play pirated games…)
