AtomTaito brings Space Invaders to the Extreme
So far Taito’s Tokyo Game Show list is only DS games. We mentioned the Legend of Kage, Arkanoid DS, Cooking Mama 2 and Exit DS before. Space Invaders Extreme is brand new. Taito has not released any details about it and it doesn’t look like we’re going to see any information until the start of TGS. The other new DS game in their pocket is Pet Shop Monogatari DS.
It’s neat to hear about a new Space Invaders game, but what more can Taito do to tweak the formula? Touch screen shooting? Add in Square-Enix characters? Switch the perspective to a FPS?

I would be very pleased if it were a port of the PSP version, since the PSP version had Akkanvader, perhaps one of the most fun and entertaining cartoony vertical shooters ever produced.

It’s probably just a port of the PSP version that came out a couple years ago.
IMHO. They need to use the Moonanites from ATHF. And have it take place in Boston. That would at least be funny.
Honestly, the original arcade game simply wasn’t that great. The 2600 version of it was much better because it offered all sorts of gameplay options, and made the game much more focused and smother (because the action was closer because the TV was 4:3 vs the vertical arcade cabinet).
