Confirmation is here! I did in fact win!

    WOO HOO!

Thanks Siliconera for running this great contest! And thanks to everyone who voted. Compatition was tough. Each entry was really unique and interesting, with it’s own definitive strengths over the others. Lucky Man is like nothing ever seen in a Mega Man game, totally original with a detailed back story and explination of abilities. Sound Man is a perfect boss for the old NES Mega Man games, as Cross Edge would be perfect for the Zero series. Tiki Man would be great in the more detailed and colorful Mega Man 7 and MM 8, and Toxic Man EXE is by far on of the coolest Battle Network bosses I’ve ever seen. If I worked for Capcom, I’d hire ADW in a second.

I really think all the entries were great, and am privlidged just to be a part of this fine institution.

I love you all. Good night!

I can’t believe how bad the semi-finalists are, though I think it has something to do with the contest’s ridiculously short deadline. Less than a week for the news to spread and people to get their submission in? What were they thinking?! About the semi-finalists from top to bottom:

Toxicman.EXE – Really lacks character, given his namesake. This is scary coming from a veteran cartoonist how I know has produced some truly amazing character designs. Plus it bears a dubious resemblance to the Hanmuru Doll from Mega Man Legends.

Tikiman – A nice idea and vivid colouring, but the design is a just too basic. It really needs a bit more thought and effort put into it.

Sound Man – This one could have been great, but it’s a design that really needs to be seen in colour to appreciate. The chest and head have some motifs that are difficult to discern as it is.

Emoti-Man – Oh God! This is the spawn of every user who drowns his forum posts with emoticons, thinking it’s cool. Smilies and shorthand have no place in a Robot Master. Begone!

Lucky Man – It’s Tango. But brown. Next!

Cross Edge – Someone has been playing too many RPGs. Perhaps next time, Andi P should switch games and design a character that actually fits the part in the Mega Man series. The world has enough generic fantasy swordsman as it is.

All in all, while I’m disappointed at the results, I would say Sound Man is the best of the bunch. I feel it has the most potential if Phil G. would spend more time with it and produce a fully inked and coloured version.

I was extremely dissapointed with the results. Half of the drawings were ridiculously juvenile. Its not based on effort, detail, or originality..instead its popularity. I’d have to agree with “someone” I’m done with this site.

  • Ketsueki

My apologies, I ment to agree with “pigslayer”.

wow what a complete waste of an artists time.
especially since the way to win is to get all your friends to vote for you. if you take the time to really look at the pictures you can see that cross edge has the most details and he probably put more time into it than most. and he should have won.

  • Cate918

    Oh, how bitter.

I think over 1500 people voted in this contest, and Emoti-Man got almost one third of those votes.

It’s flattering that you think I have 500 friends, but I don’t have that many. More like 15, which came to about .7%, which wasn’t enough to sway the voting either way.

And Cross Edge is a really cool design, but does having the most detail mean that it should win the “Mega Man Robot Maker” contest?

Detail = better Mega Man boss?

If so, you must not like any of the classic Mega Man games that made the series what it is today.

And Glitcher, I “spawned” Emoti-Man. Do you see me using any emoitcons or web speak?

Emoti-Man is a villian after all. If you hate people who over use web speak, then wouldn’t you want to blow up Emoti-Man?
