Break into the gaming industry, work for Capcom

capcompr.jpgIf you’re a junior or higher in college, nearby San Mateo and dream of working with video games in the future Capcom is looking for you. There are open internships in the following positions:

• Product Marketing
Assist Product Marketing team in maintaining and executing overall marketing plans, strategies, communications and launch schedule. Assist in conducting market research and competitive analysis. Assist in tracking product budgets.

• Communications
Assist communications team in maintaining and executing overall PR plans, strategies, assets and launch schedules. Assist team in researching new media contacts. Assist in tracking and reporting media placement and results.

• Community
Assist community team in creating and executing community programs, content creation and contests. Contribute to online dialogue and forum management. Assist team in delivering CAPCOM assets to fans in a timely manner. Knowledge of flash, basic HTML and blogging software preferred.

• Creative Service (Graphic Design)
Assist in the design and production of print products ranging from game packaging to marketing collateral. Assist in the creation of web graphics including Flash banners, spot art, etc. Update and log digital and printed assets archives. Mac OSX efficient, proficiency in following design applications: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.

• Web Technologies
Assist in the design/development/maintenance of web pages, software and databases related to online Marketing efforts. Assist in Quality Assurance measures for all online offerings. Assist in working with the Product Marketing group to maintain schedules for assets and copy acquisition as related to online development. Knowledge of web related languages.

 

Unfortunately, you won’t get paid for your work, but you could wrangle an independent study deal to earn college credit. Think of it as paying your dues early when you're on the path to creating a Resident Evil game.

Darn, if only I was going to school a little closer (I’m a couple hours away) I would totally do this. I already fit the other two criteria. Plus, it would be a nice foot in the door to a company with branches in Japan (I’m hoping to be an English teacher, but I’d take another gig if it would get me there). Oh well, such is life.

Publishing companies are scattered around the L.A. and Orange county area.
I’ve actually been considering that lately.

Lucky lucky! I’m only 15 minutes away (in San Francisco), and I’m a junior studying communications!

Yeah, it’s a non-paying internship, but hey, it’s Capcom!
