Virtua Cop 3 has been on the market for years, but I don’t think anyone mentioned that Sonic appears in the game. No, he doesn’t pop up on the screen as an annoying hostage. Before you pop in quarters Sonic makes an appearance as a springy desk toy as seen in the photo above.
Speaking of Virtua Cop 3 it’s never had a home console version… Maybe if Ghost Squad sells well it will appear on the Wii.
I would love to see the Virtua Cop series on Wii…seems like an easy cash-in that Sega would do, but for some reason they’re pouring a lot of effort into the Olympic game. Is anyone excited about wipping your arms back and forth as fast as you can just so that you can relive a rivarly from 15 years ago? Just in case the management forgot, but with the “Internet Attention Span” nowadays, the major game-buying demographic doesn’t remember the Sonic/Mario rivalry anymore.
Sonic is in the that form in the arcade game as well…when you get to bank, he’s on the counter…when you shoot him, he makes a special sound…I’m trying to remember if you get some special ammo or not when you shoot him.

While Sega’s at it, and if Ghost Squad truly turns out successful when it launches on Wii, they might as well port its sequel, Ghost Squad Evolution, on the console too (although honestly I wish Sega had simply bundled both games together as a compilation). The way I see it, the more light gun games released for the Wii the better.
Hopefully more developers follow Sega and Capcom’s lead with Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and make use of the Zapper so it doesn’t become an underused peripheral and essentially a waste of money.
