Namco Bandai is dropping the price of the Idolm@ster down to 2,940 yen ($25) since it’s joining the wallet-friendly Platinum collection in Japan. While the game drops below half price the additional online content will keep the same price tag. Namco Bandai has to make money on the Xbox 360 version somehow. Since it’s not getting an international release microtransactions have to rake in the dough.

Sometimes the budget rereleases are region free. Check Play Asia when it’s released. Also is there an Asian release of Idolm@ster, as that may be region free. I’m wondering as I’m pretty interested in the game too.
Why -isn’t- this game getting an international release?
It’s 2007 and the region policy is still being enforced.
Give me a break.
I’m actually surprised that at this point in time, Namco Bandai have still neglected to announce Idolm@ster for PS3, in a similar situation to which Eternal Sonata had been confirmed. I doubt it would take much effort yet alone manpower to do so, and most importantly with the PS3 being region free I can imagine gamers curious about this title setting down the cash to import Idolm@ster just as a means of seeing the game’s contents in person through their own home console.
I wanted to get this game when it first came out since I have a Jpn 360, but I was worried how long this could hold my interest, feels like guilty pleasure w/ lolita singers, it’s like cell-shaded Morning Musume.
A friend of mine played this and said the gameplay aspects were surprisingly good (he expected it to just be fluff).
I think that it requires fairly in-depth japanese language skills to play, unless you use a walkthrough.

It would be super nice if this was one of those ‘Region Free’ 360 games. I would love to play it. For a recent (and major) example, the Japanese Halo 3 apparently works on US 360s!
