While we’re on the subject of value priced video games, Success is going to publish three more titles under their SuperLite Nintendo DS label. One of them is Crimson Room, a flash game, with a simple goal: escape a strange room you wake up in after a heavy night of drinking. However, Crimson Room plays more like a glorified pixel hunt than an adventure game. You click all over the screen to find keys and discover unnecessary items hidden in the game. Without a guide it might take players an hour or so to beat, probably less. Don’t take my word for it though. Try Crimson Room out for yourself in broken English and see if Crimson Room was worth waiting for.

I hate to say it, but I wonder if the DS is going to lead to another console crash? There seems to be so much stuff on it, especially in Japan, which is just junk

I enjoyed Crimson Room and Viridian Room. There aparently is a White Chamber as well, though I’ve never played it having just found out about it after checking to make sure I had the correct name for Viridian Room. They are fun little puzzles, Viridian is far harder than Crimson. They sort of remind me of a cross between classic Sierra/Lucas Arts adventure games and Saw.

There’s a ton of junk on any popular console in Japan. I can’t tell you how many “photoshoot,” jigsaw puzzle, and other useless games are on the PS2 over there. It won’t lead to a crash because that’s just how the market is over there.
