Glad to hear the load time isn't that bad, I guess people just weren't too happy w/ it since a cartridge is supposed to have none at all compared to UMD. I hope it has a griping story though after the initial setup. I'm still playing Jeanne D'Arc, I love both the gameplay (though nothing revolutionary) and story, a solid SRPG on the handheld from Level 5.

@Aoshi00

I was originally under the impression that those who were weary about the load time really exaggerated it much like the "horrendous" FFT: WOTL load time was exaggerated; the transition from field to battle takes no more than a second, and the battle animations themselves aren't really that long. If you've seen some gameplay footage, you'll know what I'm talking about. Even if it takes a character a few seconds to complete his animation and attack a foe, the overall animation doesn't take too long.

@Jay

Agreed. After Chapter 4 you really see the game's underlying design. I'm currently on Chapter 10 and have noticed that the many negatives attributed to the game were just little things you can easily ignore. I'll admit the interface is a bit bad on the eyes, but it isn't so bad that you'll eventually stop yourself from playing the game. Since you're also paying the game, I'd like to know what you think about it when you're halfway into it.

If its not too much trouble of course.

If you want more positive impressions you should check NeoGAF or RPGamer where there are gamers who have also played the game beyond the 4th chapter, I doubt many who have given early impressions so far have. Famitsu did give the game pretty high scores even with their criticism of the interface which does sound pretty bad due to Racjin's poor implementation, but from what I've seen those who play the game beyond the 4th chapter should start to see the underlying game design done by Mistwalker so I'm hopeful I'll be able to do the same.

I like the basic premise, but I was extremely worried as well from hearing almost nothing but bad impressions about the gameplay. Stylus-only control sounds extraneous, they should leave the d-pad as an option, like other DS games. Heard the load time is long too from the graphics and the music a little disappointing despite being from Sakimoto (FF Tactics, 12, Odin Sphere).. they certainly sound discouraging. I think I wan to try Lost Odyssey first as my second Mistwalker game.
