Mystery solved? Capcom announces a Bionic Commando remake

By Spencer . October 15, 2007 . 9:39pm

bccapcm.jpgUnless Capcom is going to drop two major announcements this week it looks like the countdown clock is hinting at a new Bionic Commando game. Gamespot is running coverage on it all week and the new hero, Nathan Spencer, has the ever so important grappling arm. After a world crisis in Ascension City Nathan is dragged out of the execution chair because of his unique gift. His arm is the perfect tool for navigating the ruined city and fighting the Imperials (read: the bads). Capcom has Bionic Command planned for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Wii owners are left out, but they get Monster Hunter 3.

I can’t believe that would be a major announcement though. Though then again, I don’t think it would be a fit for the platforms its on, either. A DS game would be more appropriate, IMHO.

Kotat Says:

I like Bionic Commando as much as the next retro gamer but really, do we need all these remakes? Sure some are innovative but I cant see anyway a next-gen title like this can be true to its roots. Also, its not like BC has the major draw like more popular titles like frogger and pac-man that would pull in impulse buyers wanting to relive their youth, whats next? A crystal castles redo?

If this is actually the annoucement, then once again, Capcom shows that it has completely lost touch with their most devoted fans.

Visionnerz Says:

I hop no one that worked on Final Fight Streetwise is touching this.. but that probably isn’t possible.

The coundown is for a different game, first the countdown is still running, second this game is nothing to be hyped about, third the game that the countdown is for has already been confirmed by capcom to be ps3 exclusive and this game is multiplatform.

I’ll take the original game over the crappy 3D remake for $50 Alex.

Hrmms… Is Fujiwara in on this?

Please, keep us posted.

Atlus Shrugged Says:

“Reimagined” versions of arcades games have an even worse track record than movie license.

EvliAkito Says:

Meh, I’ve wanted a new Bionic Commando for a while, but not like this. It was pretty much the core gameplay that drew me into the NES classic, but if they’re going to modernize it and change it into another 3-D action game, I think I’ll pass.
