Powering up Mario in Super Mario Galaxy

Nintendo is returning to the good old days of Super Mario Brothers 3 with a diverse selection of power ups in Super Mario Galaxy. Some of them are twists on old abilities like the bee suit. It lets Mario fly, just of like the raccoon leaf or power feather. The only difference is you don’t need a running start with the bee suit. Others are brand new like Ice Mario, which lets Mario freeze water below him to make a path.

Over on Nintendo’s official Japanese Super Mario Galaxy page you can see videos of all six of them in action. So far Fire Mario is my favorite. It’s the oldest out of the bunch, but this is the first time Mario is going to be able to throw fireballs in 3D!
