spongebob.jpgMicrosoft is getting family friendly with their downloadable games. Scheduled to come out in the future are SpongeBob SquarePants: Underpants Slam and Shrek-N-Roll. Both games are coming “soon”.

Starting today Microsoft is adding more youth oriented content on the Xbox Live video marketplace including 50 episodes of Looney Tunes are in the video marketplace, 10 of them are in Spanish. Sitting alongside Bugs Bunny are: Blue’s Clues, The Backyardigans and iCarly from Nickelodeon.

The move here isn't to attract the general gamer, it's to pick up parents and families considering to purchase a console this holiday season. The news may not counteract Nintendo's family friendly line up, but adding in a few iconic characters makes Microsoft look ahead of Sony.

I never thought I’d be reading about Spongebob videogames on Siliconera…

Spencer Says:

@Andrew - Me neither, but here we are! It looked like other sites missed this bit of news so I thought it would compliment the other family news about the Xbox 360 Arcade system.
