A glimpse at the Ys remakes

Yes, Ys I & II are heading to the Nintendo DS and Dengeki Online has some screenshots of the two games. I could comment on the graphics, but I’m more interested in how Interchannel Holon plans to update the game. Hearing that Adol actually hits enemies with his sword already sounds unusual. On top of that there is going to be a combo system. Good thing the original dash is in the game because it wouldn’t be Ys if you couldn’t crash into your enemies. You use the stylus to do Adol’s tackle attack.

For newcomers to the series, the DS remakes have four difficulty levels: Very Easy, Easy Normal and Nightmare. Then for old school players there are new areas to explore, new bosses and a time attack mode. Since these games are more than a graphical update I’m more interested in them. Perhaps we should cover the two Ys games when they come out in Spring 2008? What say you Siliconera faithful?

Update: Game|Watch has more screenshots to see. Check them out too.
