Blue Dragon items sold over the Xbox Marketplace

bd.jpgMicrosoft announced the second pack of Blue Dragon content is now available to purchase for 200 Microsoft Points. The keyword there is purchase because Japan got the package of six rather useful items for free. The shuffle dungeon maker is worth cash, but I’m on the fence about paying for items. Take a look at the six items and see if they are worth $2.50 or not.

1) “Whimsical Mind” – growth item that enhances a few randomly-picked categories by 0-4 levels

2) “Way of Thieves” – in-battle item that can steal rare items possessed by enemy creatures

3) “Devee Phonograph” – allows you to listen to the “Devee-tribe dance”

4) “Nothing Glasses” – visualizes all “nothing” points by means of a star-looking symbol (oftentimes you’ll find a lot of items that contain “nothing”, followed by an English-speaking narrator saying “nothing”).

5) “Shuffled Helmet” – item that adjusts magical and speed parameters (Magic +40 / Speed -40).  Detrimental when used by itself because the speed parameter goes down by 50 points, but when equipped along with “Shuffled Breastplate” and “Shuffled Splint”, this item can quadruplicate the Magic parameters and reverse the Speed parameters.  So it becomes the strongest equipment in the game. (Magic +160 / Speed +40)

6) Spring-wind Scarf”” – adjusts characters’ HP and Speed parameters by 20%

I hope Jpn would just do away w/ the 300 pts alrdy for the random dungeon generator since I can’t purchase it over here even if I’m willing to pay.

The problem w/ the “nothing” indicator is that even if you can prevent wasting time sticking against the wall and pressing btn, you’re skipping the chance of netting rare items, which are given by a guy who records how many “nothing” you have encountered, so the hundreds of nothings are actually useful. Boy, was the narrator’s voice awful..

Rolando Says:

Wasn’t this DLC free on the Japanese marketplace?

Aoshi00 Says:

Yeah, they were freebies over in Jpn. I grabbed the extras, but didn’t find the incentive to replay the game to try those features..

Atlus Shrugged Says:

I’m gonna pick up BD sometime later, mebbe greatest hits.

It’ll be sick to jump in and have so much DLC to check out.

Super Say Whatin' Says:

In responce to what Aoshi00 said: the point is not to pass them over, it’s to only waste time getting the nothings. After a point in the game you no longer need gold, medals (because your stats are maxed out anyways) or any regular item you might find while searching, though you will need all the nothings to exchange in Castle Jibral for rare items and complete your item acheivement. Plus stealing a rare item is ultra sweet! I think the items rock, and for just a small amount of change (which helps cover development and bandwidth usage for those downloading) it adds something fun to the game. I have no problems paying for them, and I’ll do it again if they come out with another set.
