Uhm, Enterbrain reports that Super Mario Galaxy sold 130,000 units in its first week sales. With that it surpasses total sales of games like Minna no Golf 5 (PS3) which has been out since summer and is also pretty popular.

So uhm, what was the point of this article? To point out that 'a' guy didn't need to stand in line at certain game stores, like that somehow should be representative for the rest of Japan?

Just to clarify something I never said Super Mario Galaxy was or is going to fail. Read the last paragraph over again. It's a fantastic game that will probably continue to sell over a period of many weeks. However, there wasn't the same kind of fan fervor that other titles have during launch day.

Yea, looks like the poster is trying to make SMG a complete failure, we will see how ths ends up being at the end of the week.

I hope japanese wii owners dont buy the wii just to play wii fit and wii sports, cause in that case the wii exclusives are doomed, and mainly because of the lack of marketing. This is only Nintendos fault :)

I think that mario galaxy is being a victim of the new nintendo marketing, aiming specially to casual gamers, the ones that enjoy playing forever wiisports and looklikes.

metroid prime, zelda, and mario are no longer the must buy games for these gamers, the new nintendo player doesn’t care about "classic" games, they just bought a cheap console, like wii ...

Hardcore players want to play galaxy, but with such visually sumptuous and “freshly” new games for xbox360, how really cares about the new "mario sunshine"?! ...

This article really tries hard to make it appear as though no one cares about SMG when in fact, there have been over 700,000 pre-orders for the game in Japan alone. So why stand in line when you can just walk into the store at your own leisure and grab your copy.

I'm actually more surprised to hear people were buying 360 games than the fact that there was no line for Super Mario Galaxy!

Prepping for Lost Odyssey maybe?
