Mashing fantasy and match three puzzle games worked well for Puzzle Quest. Success Corp is going to try a similar idea next year with the Joshikousei Nigeru! Shinrei Puzzle Gakuen. It takes elements from Japanese ghost stories and blends them with matching three objects on a grid. The goal is to clear symbols like prayer beads by matching pieces before a ghost approaches to escape its grasp. A strange way of redesigning the age old mechanism of a timer, but I’ll give Skonec points for creativity.
Seems okay. Mixing a ghost element with puzzle action seems like a okay combo. The puzzle action better be good. Multiplayer would make the game better too.
Since all almost all of Sucess’s games are licensed in America by Atlus, this seems likely to come to America. It’ll probably have to get a name change and have to some of the ghost elements cut out….

It sounds like fun. I’d like to give it a try some day.
