For someone like me, who was/is a fan of the English language version the late Geneon Entertainment released, I appreciated that XSeed seemed to have used the same studio (Media Concepts) and gotten the same cast for the game as the animé. I couldn't tell any differences, anyway. And for anyone who is interested in the animé, Geneon did manage to release the 2 "Fighting Spirit" collections that have a co-sell on the back of the game manual. I would definitely recommend that people check it out if they like the game!

Yeah, I was going to include a little bit about the reversible cover art. I was impressed with the option but I would have liked if it had all of the Wii labels and official Nintendo junk like on every other cover so it looked right on a shelf next to my other Wii games. Digital Devil Saga 2 had reversible covers that were like that and you can pick either without it looking strange in your collection.

I thought they would've worked out all the kinks after Wii Sports' boxing, I guess the Wiimote control scheme is not easy due to the sensitivity issue..

I haven't watched enough Ippo to be a big fan of it, only watched 10 episodes years ago. But I'm dying to try this game, along w/ Zack and Wiki, to get the most out of my Wii.

So there's no Jpn language option? Would it kill them just to include a secondary track.. I know, the big blue glove cover looks horrible, usually for some reason they hide a good Jpn cover and use it on the manual inside.. Sometimes you get better cover though, like the US Jeanne d'Arc.

I've bought the game, it does feel like super punch out since I use the classic controller and enjoyed it. Anyone who haven't watch the anime, I recommend it a lot. Like the review, yes quite annoying actually using the wiimote. Aside from that, the game have 2 box cover which is quite cool!!! I hate the US cover (the blue boxing gloves), but when I flip it, Wow!!! It has the Anime version cover!!!. Why can't all games are like these. Does it hurt so much to include both US and Japanese covers for example the Zelda series.

1 thing, y can't they just let the Original Japanese voice in there. I heard they dont have enough room inside the DVD. C'mon! don't me that crap. 4.5-8GB DVD are plenty.
(sorry for my bad english though)

Thanks for the review. It's a shame the detection doesn't work well. I couldn't stand playing boxing in Wii Sports because of how bad it was. Looks like I'll have to continue waiting for the sequel to Super Punchout.
