Sony is releasing another revision to the Playstation 2 on November 22. The new SCPH-90000 PS2s have the AC adapter built into the unit and they are 12% lighter than the previous slim model. So you save some clutter and exert less effort when lifting it, but the revised Playstation 2 isn’t any lighter on the wallet. In Japan, it's 16,000 yen ($140) for the SCPH-90000 model or any other slim PS2. There really is no need to “upgrade”, even the colors are the recycled. Sony has previously released slim PS2s in Charcoal Black, Ceramic White and Satin Silver.

Thanks! I might look for this, as I need a slim PS2 and the inclusion of internal power supply would be very convienent!

BatAttack Says:

Of course you would not upgrade.. but believe it or not, there are still people who have never bought a PS2, and are looking now.. like me. And I despise external power adapters so this is a good move, preferable for me to a price reduction.

Mind you, some sites are reporting this is a Japan only redesign..

It’s hard to imagine there are still a lot of people who wanted to play a PS2 all these years and still haven’t bought one.. Can’t stand external power supply either, like the 360’s bulky one, it’s heavy and noisy, not to mention the orange light on there is very bright in the dark.

I wanted to buy a PS2 for a few years but I had plenty of Gamecube games and retro games to play and the price for the console was a little bit too expensive. So I picked one up earlier this year.

Right now really is the best time to pick up a PS2, games prices are fantastic. Every game I have bought has been below $50, so its easy to only spend a few hundred dollars to get a lot of games. Its also attractive as a lot of fence sitting gamers who still aren’t read to make the leap to the latest gen consoles. They are still too expensive. So when you weigh it all up the PS2 is the ideal choice.

hmmm, I wonder if they cutted corners due to build quality, and I’m not gonna risk it.
