Spectrobes, re-released with a complete card collection

spectrobes.jpgOne of the neat-o concepts Spectrobes introduced was its card input system. Each game came packaged with a handful of translucent cards with holes on them. Players would place the card over the touch screen and poke the holes in the order indicated on the card to unlock in game content. Not all games came with the same cards, which meant gamers would have to trade to or borrow cards from chums.

But not anymore! Disney Interactive is quietly releasing a new version of Spectrobes in stores called Spectrobes: Collector's Edition. This version costs $30, the same price as the original game, but it comes with all of the 38 cards used in Spectrobes. While this new bundle may attract late adopters, Disney is likely to sell some gamers the same game twice. Once for them to play it when it comes out and once to obtain a perfect collection of trading cards. Clever move.
