Boot your PS3 from anywhere in the world with firmware 2.00

Tomorrow, Playstation 3 firmware version 2.00 arrives and it adds in remote start. With this feature you can turn on your Playstation 3 via your PSP from a Wi-Fi hotspot. Sounds odd, but I imagine remote start can be quite useful. You don’t need to plan in advance if you want to stream movies or audio on your PSP. Also if you want to gaze in the future, this update may encourage more games to support remote play like Lair.

An information board with news straight from Sony, music/photo playlists and custom theme support are the other notable features. Speaking of the themes, Sony never mentioned if they or other companies are going to sell them. Since the firmware supports user developed themes it’s going to be difficult for companies to shill wallpaper when there is an ample supply of free content.

Update: Rolando points out that it's out now. Grab it and start your PS3 up from Starbucks or something.
