AtomDig Dug, dug up for an online game
The once iconic arcade star has fallen on hard times. Even Dig Dug’s recent DS game pokes fun at his obscurity to the younger generation. Maybe Dig Dug Island will get a new generation of players to recognize who Taizo Hori is. VerX released a concept video of Dig Dug Island, an online version of Dig Dug. There isn’t much gameplay in clip, but the short sequence at the end shines some light on how it plays.

It looks like this one is based off of the gameplay of Dig Dug II rather than tweaking the original for a new day and age. That seems like an odd choice given that Dig Dug II wasn’t as popular as the first.
