Only in Japan: Assassin’s Creed is only on the 360

Ubisoft is launching Assassin's Creed this week. Meanwhile Japan has to wait until November 29 to try it out, but unlike the multiplatform release in North America, Ubisoft only has a date for the Xbox 360 version. The Playstation 3 release is probably still coming out. It’s not like the box art has the “only on Xbox 360” stamp or anything.

I find news this rather interesting since Assassin's Creed was previously believed to be a Playstation 3 exclusive and it's made by a western company. Now in one territory the tables are nearly turned, Assassin's Creed is Xbox 360 only in 2007. Perhaps, this has something do with the title getting slapped with a CERO Z rating. Microsoft embraced 18+ CERO Z titles on the Xbox 360. In fact the Xbox 360 has by far the most CERO Z games compared to the main three systems (Wii/PS3/Xbox 360). Maybe Ubisoft feels that this is their target demographic and if this is the case the Xbox 360 is doing a decent job at carving out a niche of its own.

This reeks of an under-the-table deal between Microsoft and Ubisoft to try and get sales earlier than Sony’s. Sure, i sounds like a far-fetched conspiracy theory, but remember that Microsoft would do anything to be ahead of Sony. Remember the defective Xbox 360 units? MS could’ve taken the extra time to perform

I was wondering why I didnt see it listed. thats good, maybe I can get a decent price for the ps3 US version on Yahoo Auction in Japan when I am done with it.

I guess they wont do a limited edtion either, will they?

It’s the same thing with DMC4 on both platforms. It’s only being released on the PS3 in Japan. Is this a conspiracy theory too dumbass?

@mark - Wow you’re reading way too much into this. I never said this is a “conspiracy” or that this is anything bad on Sony. It’s just something interesting to note.

… and Devil May Cry 4 IS coming out on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on the Jan. 31 in Japan. It’s a simultaneous release.
