DivX integration coming soon to a PS3 near you

DivX integration coming soon to a PS3 near youI have a standalone DivX player and I’m still ecstatic to hear that DivX is going to be part of a future Playstation 3 firmware update. Besides being able to play DivX encoded discs, adding in the DivX codec allows Sony to release high quality movies/trailers that take up less hard drive space. Perhaps, Sony may even use the DivX codec as a more efficient way to sell downloadable DivX content. Remember Sony Pictures Entertainment has the rights to hits like The Boondocks and Seinfield to somehow sell over the Playstation store.

    wait, isn’t h.264 a better compression method that should give a better picture? If they are gonna release downloadable tv content i’d rather it be in that format because that will take up even less space……….but it IS nice to see sony trying to support more media options on the PS3
