War continues to rage in ancient China, Dynasty Warriors 6 dated

dw6usa.jpgKoei is wasting no time when it comes to releasing Dynasty Warriors 6 in North America. The latest in their tactical action game series is scheduled to come out on February 19, 2008, about three months after the Japanese release. Not bad turnaround time at all. Like Japan, Dynasty Warriors 6 will also get a dual console release in North America. Will Koei beat the 8.5:1 ratio favoring the Playstation 3 version outside of Japan?

Even if I had a 360 or PS3, I still wouldn’t get this game. I say that as a hardcore Romance of the Three Kingdoms/Dynasty Warriors fan. Koei really dropped the ball on this one. Did you know it actually has LESS playable characters than Dynasty Warriors 5? Did you also know that of the character that are still playable, less than half of them can be played in Musou (story) mode?

    Couldn’t agree more.

I’m also disapointed with the less playable characters. My favorite character Da Qiao is no more, less musou modes for everyone, lots of unique weapons lost, etc. I’m hoping they make it up in DW7 or the expansion game.

To think that I had high hopes for this first next-gen Dynasty Warriors. That seems to be the concensus from Japanese fans as well, fewer stages, few playable chars, and fewer yet in Musou mode. Koei really let the fans have it. Imagine those who bought the expensive ltd editon or blew their money on a PS3, at least ceramic white looks good.
